Muscle testing is a form of applied and behavioral kinesiology, which tests for many different ailments, both physical and emotional. It is a non-invasive way to evaluate the body’s imbalances and assess the specific needs of the person based on the Chinese meridians, or energy pathways.
The goal of this type of testing is to determine how to best balance the mind, body and soul. There are many techniques as well as a variety of things that can be tested. Dr. David Hawkins, a well-known figure in the realm of consciousness research and kinesiology, stated in his book Power Vs. Force, “The study of kinesiology first received scientific attention in the second half of the last century through the work of Dr. George Goodheart, who pioneered the specialty he called applied kinesiology after finding that benign physical stimuli—for instance, beneficial nutritional supplements—would increase the strength of certain indicator muscles, whereas inimical stimuli would cause those muscles to suddenly weaken.”
In other words, the body knows what is good or bad for it.
How it works:
Everything is made up of energy. Muscle testing is about finding a positive or negative charge in the body. There can be a positive response where the body gets strong or a temporary negative response where the body weakens. Many chiropractors, acupuncturists, and energetic practitioners will use muscle testing as a tool to “listen” to the body through the subconscious mind in order to gain information. This will help create a starting point to reach balance. Muscle testing may be used to determine what supplements to take, how many to take, and to help understand the underlying health issues contributing to symptoms.
Who can benefit from doing it?
Anyone can benefit, but being open-minded to energy work is beneficial. For those interested and open to energy work and muscle testing, Paige Ryan, our Applied Clinical Nutritionist, is an energetic practitioner who can provide this type of service. She utilizes muscle testing within her consultations to help determine the best approach of healing to take. Paige states, “I use muscle testing as a form of guidance from the body and when it is appropriate for the client. Each person’s path to healing is individual.”
